Most growing firms don’t struggle because they lack talented people. They struggle because the people systems that worked at one stage of growth no longer support the next.

Expectations become less clear. Communication becomes inconsistent. Managers lead differently. Performance conversations happen too late. Compensation decisions become harder to explain. Partners spend more time solving people issues than focusing on clients and growth.

Growth has a way of exposing the systems that need to evolve.

That’s why I founded illuminHR.

After more than twenty years in accounting and human resources, I saw firsthand that successful professional service firms rarely struggle because they lack capable people. More often, they reach a point where their leadership, communication, and people systems simply haven’t evolved as quickly as the business itself.

As both a CPA and an HR executive, I bring a perspective that is uncommon in our profession. I understand the financial realities of running a firm because I’ve lived them. I also know that sustainable growth depends on investing in people with the same intentionality given to operations, client service, and profitability. The strongest firms don’t treat people strategy as separate from business strategy. They recognize the two are inseparable.

Today, I serve as a trusted advisor to owners, partners, CEOs, and leadership teams as they navigate the opportunities and challenges that naturally accompany growth. Whether we’re designing compensation programs, clarifying organizational structure, developing future leaders, improving performance management, recruiting key talent, facilitating leadership retreats, or creating meaningful career paths, my role is to help firms build the people infrastructure that allows them to scale with confidence.

My clients aren’t looking for generic HR advice. They want practical, thoughtful solutions that fit their business. I don’t arrive with a binder full of templates or one-size-fits-all programs. I listen first, ask thoughtful questions, and work alongside leadership to build strategies that reflect each firm’s culture, goals, leadership style, and stage of growth.

Clients often tell me I bring clarity to conversations that have felt stuck for months. I simplify complexity, create alignment, and help leadership teams move forward with confidence. That’s the work I enjoy most.
